It has been four days since senior YSR Congress party leader and ex-Lok Sabha member Y V Subba Reddy was re-nominated as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board for a second consecutive term.
So far, Subba Reddy has not taken charge as the TTD chairman, though Tuesday was an auspicious day – being Toli Ekadasi for him to do that.
Instead, he left for the United States of America along with his wife.
According to reports in a section of media, Subba Reddy would be in the US till the third week of August.
It would mean he won’t be taking charge as the TTD chairman till he returns from the US.
The talk in this section of media is that Subba Reddy, though not totally disinterested in serving Lord Venkateshwara in the capacity of the TTD chairman, was hoping that he would be given Rajya Sabha nomination or a cabinet berth which would enable him stage a comeback into active politics.
In fact, Subba Reddy openly told the media the other day that he wants to play an active role as a public representative.
He said he was happy with the service of Lord Venkateshwara in the capacity of TTD chairman for two years and he now wants to be in the direct public service.
He openly regretted that despite being in the party for several years, he could not do anything for the people who stood by him and the party right from the beginning.
“I have not done justice to the party workers. So, I feel I would be able to serve the people and the party workers if I come back into the direct politics,” Subba Reddy said.
Subba Reddy said he had requested chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to give him an opportunity to return to direct politics.
But with Jagan preferring to continue him as the TTD chief for another two and a half years, he was a bit upset.
“That is precisely why Subba Reddy left for the US with family so as to convey his disappointment to the chief minister indirectly. Maybe, he is expecting that Jagan would change the mind and give him a suitable political position by the time he returns from the US,” sources said.
