A heated confrontation between an Indian tech professional and a US-based whistleblower in Texas has gone viral, sparking fresh debate around H-1B visa rules and alleged misuse.
The controversy began when Texas journalist and whistleblower Sara Gonzales confronted an Indian techie, Naveen Tummala, accusing him of violating visa norms by running a food truck business while being employed under an H-1B visa.
Gonzales claimed she had received tips suggesting that Tummala, whose visa is reportedly sponsored by Flexera Global Inc., was involved in operating a food truck chain in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
She alleged that such cases are part of a “typical H-1B–H4 scam,” where visa holders run businesses in the name of dependents.
However, Tummala strongly pushed back during the confrontation, asserting that he was fully aware of H-1B rules and not in violation of any laws.
His firm response — “I know my H-1B rules” — has since become a viral talking point on social media.
The incident has triggered widespread online reactions, with users divided over visa compliance, side businesses, and the broader scrutiny faced by Indian professionals in the United States.
The episode also highlights growing tensions around immigration debates in Texas, where whistleblowers and activists have increasingly targeted alleged visa misuse, particularly involving Indian tech workers.
While no official action has been reported so far, the viral clash underscores a larger issue — the fine line H-1B holders must walk when it comes to employment rules, side ventures, and legal compliance in the US.
