Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is set to hold a crucial meeting today with TDP MLAs, MPs, MLCs, and constituency in-charges.
With the alliance government completing one year and growing public criticism over alleged misconduct by some elected representatives, all eyes are on how Naidu will steer the discussion.
Reportedly, Naidu has commissioned surveys from four to five agencies, and the findings are said to be alarming — indicating that nearly 70 MLAs are in the "red zone."
Being a seasoned politician, Naidu understands better than anyone how quickly public discontent can spiral out of control.
Though he has already summoned and warned several MLAs and ministers, sources say little has changed on the ground.
Naidu recently cautioned that he is ready to drop even senior leaders if they act against the will of the people or the party cadre. But whether this is just media posturing or a genuine warning remains a topic of debate.
On the ground, some alliance representatives are reportedly being compared unfavorably to YSRCP MLAs, with the public claiming even the latter were more approachable.
Such negative perception, despite the rollout of welfare schemes, could prove damaging.
As Naidu aims to retain power in the next election, TDP cadres are hopeful that today’s meeting will provide clear signals on whether he is ready to initiate corrective action — or not.
