Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who launched her new political party – Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS) on Saturday, launched a direct and personal attack on her father and BRS president KCR, for the first time after coming out of the BRS in September last year.
In her emotionally charged speech, Kavitha went all out against KCR for ignoring the aspirations and dreams of the people of Telangana after coming to power and becoming the first chief minister of the state in 2014.
She said the Telangana movement had “lost direction” under KCR’s leadership and the cause of “social justice” had become completely ignored.
Expressing regret for being part of the previous administration, Kavitha called it a matter of shame that KCR neglected the very slogan of “neellu-nidhulu-niyamakaalu” (water, funds and jobs), which formed the basis for Telangana movement.
“The present-day KCR is completely different from KCR in the days of Telangana movement. While spearheading the movement, KCR was empathetic, accessible, and committed to people’s struggles. After coming to power, KCR was completely detached, politically altered, and unresponsive,” she said.
Kavitha said there was no democratic atmosphere during the KCR government, with people being apprehensive of surveillance on their lives.
“While ignoring the genuine Telangnaa protagonists, KCR encouraged anti-Telangana forces around him. Corruption reached its peak and scams had become the order of the day. Social justice was a passe,” she alleged.
She said KCR was once “mana manishi” (our man), but he had now turned into a “mara manishi” (a robot), under the control of wolves and jackals around him.
“He has no empathy for the suffering masses. He never comes out to call on people who were in distress,” Kavitha said.
