Tamil Nadu Survey: Troll Material or True Call?

Tamil Nadu Survey: Troll Material or True Call?

The Tamil Nadu exit polls have created massive buzz, but one survey has stood out for all the wrong reasons.

The prediction by Axis My India’s Pradeep Gupta has become the biggest talking point of the day; sparking debate, criticism, and even ridicule.

In a projection that could redraw Tamil Nadu’s political map, an Axis My India exit poll has predicted a dramatic debut for Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), giving it 98–120 seats in the 234-member Assembly and placing it alongside the DMK-led alliance.

Pollster Pradeep Gupta, chairperson of Axis My India, even likened Vijay’s rise to that of former chief ministers MGR in Tamil Nadu and NTR in Andhra Pradesh.

Many observers say this prediction feels less like a professional exit poll and more like a “parrot prophecy.” For a reputed survey agency, this has come as a serious blow, with questions being raised about its credibility.

This is not the first time such controversy has surrounded Pradeep Gupta.

During the last Lok Sabha elections, he had confidently claimed on live TV that the BJP would cross 380 seats, even thumping the table to emphasise his point. However, when the actual results came out, the numbers fell far short of those tall claims.

That moment, where expectations crashed against reality, is still fresh in public memory. Now, with the Tamil Nadu exit poll once again raising eyebrows, critics feel whatever little credibility the agency had left may have taken another hit.

As always, exit polls may create headlines; but the real verdict will only come on counting day.
