SEC serves notices on Kodali for foul-mouthing

Known for his pungent comments and foul-mouthing of his political rivals, Andhra Pradesh minister for civil supplies Kodali Venkateshwara Rao alias Kodali Nani incurred the wrath of state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar for using abusive language against the commission.

Speaking to media on Friday, Nani used some derogative words against Nimmagadda.

“He should get sense and knowledge at least now. This Nimmagadda will be crushed under the wheels of Jagan’s chariot,” he said.

He was reacting to Nimmagadda’s orders stopping the vehicles of the Civil Supplies Department to supply the essential commodities to the doorsteps of the people.

He alleged that Nimmagadda was taking advantage of the election code to stall the door-delivery of the rice and other commodities in villages.

The minister also used foul language against a section of media.

“I am not relying on worthless newspapers and television channels. Nobody can stop the juggernaut of YSRC and harm even the little finger of Jagan,” he said.

He threw a challenge to TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh to win at least as a sarpanch in Chittoor district.

“If he wins the sarpanch seat, I will go out of the state,” he said.

Political comments apart, Nani’s abuses immediately caught the attention of Nimmagadda. Within an hour, he issued a notice to the minister stating that the latter had referred to the SEC in derogatory terms.

“His utterances in bracketing the Commissioner with certain others is done in a manner lowering the esteem of the Commission as well as the public standing of the Commissioner, who is conducting elections to the Gram Panchayats in the State. His utterances impute unfounded mala fides as well,” the SEC said.

Nimmagadda urgently sought the explanation of Nani before 5 personally or through any representative. He said unless suitable amends are made publicly to the satisfaction of the Commission immediately, necessary further steps would have to ensue.
