Picture abhi baaki hai, says Peddireddy

The decision of the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government to withdraw its decision to form three capitals for Andhra Pradesh has come as a surprise even to the YSR Congress party leaders.

However, the YSRC leaders are not opening up in detail and are awaiting a statement from the chief minister.

While state minister for civil supplies Kodali Venkateshwar Rao alias Nani said the two Acts are being withdrawn on technical grounds, panchayat raj minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy came up with a different statement.

Reddy, who did not take part in the cabinet meeting, said: “This is just an interval. The cinema has not come to an end still. As far as I know, the decision was taken only to overcome technical and legal hurdles. I am yet to speak to my colleagues.”

Asked whether the government had succumbed to the pressures of Amaravati farmers who had been on a padayatra, Peddireddy shot back, ridiculing the famers.

“What padayatra? Are they doing it with lakhs of people like Jagan Mohan Reddy? They are stage-managed by the Telugu Desam Party,” he said.

He said they were not farmers of Amaravati but paid artistes of the TDP.

“Amaravati is nothing but the TDP. Both are not different,” he said.
