Jana Sena suspects conspiracy against Chiranjeevi

The ongoing campaign on social media against megastar Chiranjeevi for his comments that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was lagging behind in encouraging film artistes has created an unrest of sorts within the Jana Sena Party headed by Chiranjeevi’s brother and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan.

Guntur district Jana Sena Party president Gade Venkateswara Rao on Monday alleged that a political conspiracy is behind recent social media criticism targeting actor Chiranjeevi.

Apparently, he was suspecting that those who were slinging mud at the megastar were TDP supporters.

Venkateshwar Rao accused certain groups of deliberately spreading misinformation and warned against provocative commentary.

“Everyone knows who is behind these campaigns. We are maintaining restraint only because of coalition dharma,” he said, urging critics to refrain from making inflammatory remarks.

The controversy stems from Chiranjeevi’s remarks at the Gaddar Awards presentation event in Hyderabad, where he observed that Andhra Pradesh could do more to encourage the film industry and suggested that the state government consider hosting film award events.

Defending the actor, Venkateswara Rao said there was nothing objectionable in referring to Andhra Pradesh as a “neighboring state” or in making constructive suggestions for the development of the film sector.

He cautioned social media users against making irresponsible statements for online attention.

“When Chandrababu Naidu was jailed, we responded to Pawan Kalyan’s call and even faced legal cases. Where were these critics then?” he asked.

While reiterating commitment to alliance discipline under Pawan Kalyan, he made it clear that the party would not tolerate defamatory campaigns.

“Being in an alliance does not mean we will remain silent on every issue,” he added.
