P V Sindhu to be AP rep in Hyderabad

Badminton superstar P V Sindhu, who had been appointed as a Group-I officer in Andhra Pradesh by the previous Telugu Desam Party government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu after she had won the Olympic silver medal, has now got yet another benefit from the present YSRC government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Though Sindhu has been an officer in Andhra Pradesh government, she has been staying in Hyderabad permanently. Even on technical grounds, she has to be present in Amaravati for which she has to shuttle between Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

The ace badminton star has recently completed her training period as a Deputy Collector. So, she has to be given a permanent posting in Andhra government. Since it will be difficult for her to travel regularly, the Jagan government has appointed her as the OSD of Lake View Guest House in Hyderabad.

An order to this effect was issued by Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney on Friday. The government has decided to upgrade the current vacant Assistant Director post to the OSD level and directed the protocol director to send a proposal on it.

Though Sindhu has to report to her duty, she was also provided on duty facility from December 7, 2018, to August 30, 2020. The government has stated this on-duty matter in the orders.

Recently, Sindhu met Jagan and told him that she was getting ready for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Jagan wished her all the best and assured to provide land to establish a badminton academy in Visakhapatnam.
