Inside: The Mystery Behind Jagan's MAVIGUN

Inside: The Mystery Behind Jagan's MAVIGUN

This has become a hot topic in both political and general circles about who might have given the idea and the name MAVIGUN (Machilipatnam–Vijayawada–Guntur) to YSRCP Chief and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy before he announced it.

The unusual name quickly became a talking point after Jagan floated it as part of his alternative capital proposal, prompting speculation about whether it came from political strategists, branding experts, or members of his inner circle.

Some believed the name might have been suggested by communication teams as a branding exercise, while others suspected the involvement of senior leaders or political consultants.

Several names have been doing the rounds in political circles. However, according to sources, the truth appears to be much simpler.

When the proposal was being discussed, those reportedly present with Jagan included Perni Nani, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Srihari, social media in-charge Yashwant Reddy, and OSD Krishna Mohan Reddy.

Sources say it was Jagan himself who came up with the idea and the name “MAVIGUN.”

Interestingly, the proposal did not receive immediate support even within the room.

It is learnt that both Perni Nani and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy strongly objected to the name and advised Jagan not to announce it publicly, warning that it could politically backfire and become a subject of ridicule.

However, Jagan reportedly remained firm and chose to go ahead with the announcement with full confidence, ignoring the caution expressed by his close aides.

So, contrary to the speculation, sources say there was no outside strategist or hidden brain behind the “MAVIGUN” label.

It was, by all accounts, entirely Jagan’s own idea and decision.
