Arrest threat continues to haunt Pinnelli

The threat of arrest continues to haunt YSR Congress Party MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy from the Macherla constituency, as the YSRCP alleges a conspiracy to eliminate him.

On Monday, Pinnelli filed a fresh bail petition in the high court following the police filing three separate cases against him after he received relief from the court in the EVM smashing case four days ago.

In an emergency petition, Pinnelli alleged that the police were trying to implicate him in one case or another so that he would be in jail at the time of vote counting on June 4. The bail petition is scheduled to be heard later in the day.

The latest cases filed against the YSRCP MLA include accusations of attacking Telugu Desam Party agent M Seshagiri Rao and abusing a woman who protested his EVM smashing at the Palwaigate polling booth on May 13.

In the most recent development, the Mangalagiri police registered a zero FIR following a directive from the Director General of Police on a complaint filed by TDP activist Nomula Manikyala Rao, who belongs to the MLA’s own village, Kandlakunta, in Veldurthi mandal of Palnadu district.

The TDP activist alleged that Pinnelli had engaged four persons to kill him because he had worked as a polling agent in the village. The police registered a case against the MLA and submitted it to the court.

The public prosecutor argued that Pinnelli had violated bail conditions and thus, his bail should be canceled as there is a possibility he might engage in violence on the counting day. The MLA moved a fresh petition seeking bail, which the court will hear later in the day.

The YSRCP has alleged that the TDP is conspiring to eliminate the Macherla legislator to create law and order trouble.

The party expressed strong objections to the Election Commission’s non-responsive attitude in taking action against the perpetrators of violence.

Former minister and senior leader Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani) questioned why the EC had failed to register a case against Pinnelli until TDP leader Lokesh shared a video on social media.

He stated that a case with an attempted murder charge was booked against Pinnelli based on a complaint filed by circle inspector Narayana Swamy, almost 10 days after the polling.

He also criticized the officials appointed by the EC for failing to maintain law and order, which led to their dismissal.

He asserted that the EC should have issued a show-cause notice to BJP leader Purandeswari for misleading the commission with a false petition.
