Telugu NRIs On Multiple Jobs With Fake Green Cards

We published an article in Telugu about the presence of proxy workers from the Telugu community in the USA.

The article highlighted concerns about certain consultancies engaging in fraudulent activities related to counterfeit green cards. This prompted a significant response, with some questioning the accuracy of the news. However, we delved deeper into the issue to uncover some facts.

The fraudulent use of fake green cards is an ongoing issue perpetrated by certain individuals in the USA. Specifically, students often arrive on Student Visas and utilize Optional Practical Training (OPT). We also know about the H1Bs eventually. A number of consultancies, associated with a particular community, are involved in producing counterfeit Green Cards for these talented students, enabling them to secure contract-based employment.

Unlike full-time jobs that undergo rigorous background checks, contract roles lack similar scrutiny. These consultancies have identified and exploited this loophole in the system.

Upon acquiring such jobs, these talented students don't merely settle for one role. They take on 3-4 contract jobs simultaneously, with an option to 'work from home'.

Due to the overwhelming workload, these individuals struggle to meet deadlines, prompting them to enlist other moderately skilled students to handle the daily tasks. These hired individuals are paid around USD 1000 per month. The primary individual overseeing these operations only intervenes during employer calls or Zoom meetings, spending the rest of their time supervising the work done by their hired associates.

Within this context, it was previously mentioned that the junior members of this setup earn roughly USD 1000 per month. Meanwhile, the central figure earns a significantly higher amount, ranging from USD 8,000 to 10,000 monthly. The consultancy orchestrating this operation profits from each contract job secured through the counterfeit green cards, which translates to approximately USD 10,000 to 16,000 per candidate per month.

The consequences of this operation are noteworthy. The surplus of proxy workers, each handling multiple roles, diminishes employment opportunities for US citizens.

Additionally, the creation and use of fake green cards constitute serious criminal offenses, subject to severe penalties under US law.

Moreover, this scenario could result in a significant security breach involving unauthorized proxy logins from various locations worldwide, thereby jeopardizing both the confidentiality policies of the affected companies and potentially the security of the nation.

We have also gathered data on individuals using fraudulent green cards and HR managers within certain companies who accepted bribes to provide positions to these individuals despite being aware of the counterfeit nature of their green cards.

The extent to which this community exploits vulnerabilities within the American system is indeed astonishing. We intend to delve further into this topic in our upcoming article.
