Reddy yet to get out of Congress hangover!

It has not even been three days since former Chevella MP and industrialist Konda Vishweshwar Reddy joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. But the soft-spoken leader is yet to come out of the hangover his Congress culture.

Vishweshwar Reddy, who met BJP Telangana unit president Bandi Sanjay in the party office on Wednesday, said he was still a Congress man and had to join the BJP because I felt it was the only party which can take on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

“I am basically, a Congress man. I have been maintaining a neutral stand all these days, but nobody bothered to care about me. When I joined the BJP, everybody is questioning me. I have the Congress blood in me, but I will be there wherever there is justice for the people,” he said.

Vishweshwar Reddy’s family came from the Congress background. His grandfather K V Ranga Reddy was the former deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh and on his name Ranga Reddy district was formed. So, Vishweshwar Reddy grew up in the Congress politics.

Though he joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2014 to become an MP from Chevella, he returned to the Congress in 2018 but after the Congress failed to make it to power in 2018 December elections, he distanced himself from the party. He joined the BJP only on Sunday.

But while joining the BJP, too, he made some interesting comments. He said he would have continued in the Congress had Revanth Reddy been made the PCC chief much before. But it was only after he resigned from the party, Revanth became the PCC chief.

In fact, Revanth Reddy said Vishweshwar Reddy won’t be able to continue in the BJP for long.

“He will return to the Congress sooner or later,” the PCC chief said.
