Jharkhand governor to be in-charge guv of Telangana

Jharkhand governor CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday appointed as the in-charge governor of Telangana, in place of Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, who resigned from her post on Monday.

A communique from Raj Bhavan said the resignation of Tamilisai was accepted with immediate effect and in her place, Radhakrishnan was being given the additional charge of Telangana.

He would also carry the additional responsibilities of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, a post which Tamilisai was holding till she resigned on Monday.

He is expected to assume charge as interim governor of Telangana on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, sources said.

Radhakrishnan is the third Tamilian to occupy the post of governor in Telangana for the third consecutive term, the first one being E S L Narasimhan, who was followed by Tamilisai Sounderarajan, were also from Tamil Nadu.

Radhakrishnan, a two-time member of parliament from Coimbatore as a BJP candidate, assumed the governorship of Jharkhand in 2023. Outgoing governor Tamilisai resigned on Monday and is expected to contest elections in Tamil Nadu.
