BRS veteran all set to return to Congress?

The Congress party in Telangana, led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, is aiming for luring a big fish from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi led by former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, sources in the party said.

The big fish is none other than veteran leader K Kesava Rao, better known as KK, Rajya Sabha member and BRS parliamentary party leader.

KK had been with the Congress party right from the beginning, before jumping into the BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) after the formation of Telangana in 2014.

On Friday, All India Congress Committee in-charge of Telangana affairs Deepa Das Munshi, along with Congress MLA Rohin Reddy and advisor (political affairs) to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy, went to Kesava Rao’s residence and held discussions with him.

Apparently, the Congress leaders invited KK into the party, saying he would get all the respect he deserved in the party.

Earlier, KK’s daughter and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi went to the residence of Deepa Das Munshi in Jubilee Hills and held discussions with her. After that, both Munshi and Vijayalakshmi went to KK’s residence.

It is not immediately known what the response of KK was, but there is a possibility that he might make a return to the Congress sooner or later.

Kesava Rao had earlier been the PCC president in the combined Andhra Pradesh and was also an MP in the past.

He was also made a member of the Congress Working Committee and he played a major role in the Congress taking a decision in favour of the Telangana formation.

But later, he preferred to join the BRS (then TRS) and was given due respect in the party by KCR. In fact, he is also heading the BRS political affairs committee.
