The appointment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to reinvestigate the sensational rape and murder case of pharmacy student Ayesha Meera in Vijayawada is believed to be yet another farcical exercise by the Chandrababu Naidu government on the lines of SIT probe into the sensational Visakhapatnam land grabbing case.
Naidu constituted the SIT headed by Vijayawada commissioner Gautam Sawang to probe the Ayesha Meera murder case following a high court order after acquitting the earlier accused Satyam Babu as innocent.
This is rather surprising as to how the SIT can probe the case, as the court had asked the government to take action against the police officers responsible for the false investigation and framing of Satyam Babu, who had served over seven years of jail.
If the government has to look for another person as the killer of Ayesha, the government would have to punish the police officers who have investigated the case in the past for which either the government or the State police was ready.
Apparently, Naidu is under pressure not to take any action against the cops who probed the case. At the same time, he cannot defy the high court order.
So, one can easily guess what the SIT is going to do in the case. Sources say the cops might once again fix Satyam Babu in the case, as was evident from the comment of Gautam Sawang who still describes Satyam as the prime accused.
