The recent India-Pakistan conflict was, in reality, limited in scale—a brief military standoff rather than a full-scale war.
Army officers from both sides continued to issue daily press releases and hold press conferences throughout the duration of the conflict, which lasted four days — from midnight after May 7th to 5 PM on May 10th.
However, social media channels in both countries sensationalized the situation, making it appear as if a full-blown war had erupted. At times, it became difficult to distinguish between facts and fabricated stories.
Pakistani social media claimed that Indian jets and airstrips had been destroyed — none of which actually occurred.
Similarly, Indian platforms spread unverified reports suggesting that Karachi port was bombed and Rawalpindi was under blackout. In response, Pakistani media aired live footage from both locations, disproving these claims.
What actually transpired was the unfortunate loss of civilian lives on the Indian side, and reported terrorist casualties and the demolition of terrorist camps on the Pakistani side — seen as a direct and fitting response by the Indian Army to the Pahalgam massacre, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists.
Indian citizens remain ever grateful to the Armed Forces for their bravery and swift action with Operation Sindoor.
This episode serves as a stern warning to Pakistan- any terrorist activity on Indian soil will be met with decisive retaliation.
It is now crucial that Pakistan, which often claims to be a victim of terrorism itself, takes concrete steps to eliminate terrorist elements within its borders — for the safety of both its citizens and those of India. That would be a true step toward lasting peace in the region.
