Horror collides with romance in Thama, a “bloody love story” that marks the first on-screen pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film expands Maddock’s horror-comedy universe with what’s being called its first-ever love story. Posters dropped yesterday, while today’s teaser gives a chilling first look.
The teaser opens with a dreamy romance between Ayushmann’s Alok, a historian chasing the roots of vampirism in Indian folklore, and Rashmika’s Tadaka, a hopeful spirit torn between chaos and love. But the fairytale quickly turns sinister as horror crashes into their fate.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui amps up the menace as Yakshasan, the “King of Darkness,” while Paresh Rawal brings comic relief as Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal.
Add to that forest chases, vampire lore, and Malaika Arora’s sizzling dance number, and Thama teases itself as a cocktail of blood, love, and spectacle.
Jumping between modern-day India and the ancient Vijayanagar empire, the film promises a saga of doomed romance, supernatural thrills, and a new chapter in Maddock’s horror-verse.
