Why Delay In Raghurama Raju Release On Bail?

Why Delay In Raghurama Raju Release On Bail?

It has been four days since Supreme Court granted conditional bail to rebel YSR Congress party MP from Narasapuram Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju in the alleged sedition case filed against him by the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department police.

But so far, Raju has not come out on bail and go to his residence. He is still staying put in the Military Hospital in Secunderabad in the name of undergoing treatment.

According to his lawyer Lakshminarayana, it might take another four days to get Raju released on bail.

Lakshminarayana told reporters on Monday that he had filed sureties petition in the trial court as per the Supreme Court directions, but the court had asked for the discharge summary of the MP.

“When we enquired with the military hospital, the doctors said it would take another four days for the discharge of Raju. So, we shall get the discharge summary only after four days,” he said.

May be on Friday, Raju will get discharged and his advocates would file sureties petition afresh in the CID court. Till such time, Raju cannot be released on bail and go home, the advocate said.

There are suspicions that Raju might be deliberately delaying discharge from the hospital on one pretext or the other, because once he comes out on bail, he would have to face the investigation by the CID authorities.

The Supreme Court had granted bail to Raju, but did not quash the investigation against him. So, the sedition case is still on and even if he comes out on bail, he may have to be called regularly for questioning.

Perhaps that is the reason why Raju is avoiding the CID interrogation by dodging the discharge from the hospital, sources said.
