IAS officer shifted for attending pro-Jagan lobby meet?

IAS officer shifted for attending pro-Jagan lobby meet?

The Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have taken disciplinary action against senior IAS officer K Neelakantha Reddy, transferring him from his post as Managing Director of the AP AIDS Control Society.

Reason: the Naidu government has gathered specific information that Neelakantha Reddy had attended the meeting of certain IAS officers convened by former chief secretary K S Jawahar Reddy, considered close to YSR Congress party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Neelakantha Reddy has been directed to report to the General Administration Department without a posting.

The government has also reportedly summoned other IAS officers who attended the meeting to seek explanations.

Sources indicate that the meeting took place during a wedding in Nellore, where Jawahar Reddy held discussions with select officials.

The development has been viewed seriously by the government, given the political sensitivities.

Neelakantha Reddy had earlier served as OSD to K Dhanunjaya Reddy, former IAS officer who was in key position in the chief minister’s office during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

It was with the support of Dhanunjay Reddy that Neelakantha Reddy was reportedly promoted to the IAS cadre.

The latest action signals the government’s intent to closely monitor bureaucratic alignments amid shifting political dynamics.
