Speculation is circulating in political circles about a possible cabinet reshuffle in Telangana, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, soon after the ongoing budget session of the state assembly.
Sources indicate that the Congress high command has held discussions with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy regarding potential changes.
There is talk of inducting a representative from the Lambada community into the cabinet. Additionally, internal discussions are reportedly underway about including Devarakonda MLA Balu Naik.
Speculation is also rife about the possible inclusion of Jatoth Ramchandra Naik, who was earlier considered for the deputy speaker post.
Party sources suggest that the portfolios of two to three existing ministers could be reshuffled.
The Congress leadership is believed to be keen on granting the Chief Minister greater operational flexibility, which may require adjustments in the cabinet.
Although such changes were initially expected after the conclusion of the state budget session, they may now be deferred due to the party leadership’s focus on upcoming elections in Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry. A reshuffle is likely only after the electoral process concludes.
There is also strong speculation that Revanth Reddy may drop a couple of ministers who were involved in controversies in the recent past.
“If Azharuddin is unable to become an MLC before the end of April, he too may be dropped from the cabinet,” sources said.
