Who is Dhobhi ka kutta now?

“Dhobi ka kutta, na ghar ka, na ghat ka..” (Washerman’s dog is neither at home, nor at the river bank) was the comment made by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao on the fate of Telugu Desam Party in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the State, a few days before the election results.

KCR predicted that the YSR Congress party would sweep the polls in Seemandhra region, while it would be the TRS wave in Telangana.

“The TDP will be neither here, nor there. It will bite the dust in both the regions,” he said then, while quoting the Urdu proverb.

However, KCR was proved only half right. The TDP did exceptionally well in Seemandhra region and was much ahead of the YSR Congress party. In Telangana, it put up a very good show despite TRS wave and the TDP-BJP combine got more seats than the Congress. And the proverb quoted by KCR will now apply only to the Congress party, which failed to get even a single MLA seat in Seemandhra and got just 17 seats in Telangana, despite granting Statehood to the region. So, it could benefit neither in Telangana nor in Seemandhra!
