Seemandhra Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao today said President of India Pranab Mukherjee was not just a ‘rubber stamp’ of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office here along with Paladugu Venkat Rao, Padma Raju and others, he said that since they were opposing the division, the President had to consider their aspirations.
“Being an experienced person and aware of Andhra Pradesh politics, Telangana demand and Seemandhra agitations, Pranab Mukherjee will give into our demands and stop the Telangana bill,” he said.
Maintaining that national parties like the Congress and the BJP will split the nation at their whims and fancies, he said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will lead their party in 2014 general elections, as the state will not be divided.
He also said that the Supreme Court had recently maintained that it will look into their demand of keeping the state undivided, if the bifurcation process was against the constitution.
It is a good sign that the courts are in their favor, he said adding that Samaikyandhra leaders will together stop the process of the division, which is going ahead in a hasty manner.
