Naidu Changing 'idli-maker' Design Again?

Naidu Changing 'idli-maker' Design Again?

Last week, the Andhra Pradesh cabinet approved the design for the assembly building of Amaravati prepared by London-based architects Norman Fosters and Partners.

The “tower” design was finalised by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu after a lot of brainstorming, involving several architects and also film director S S Rajamouli and taking the opinions of majority of the people on the CRDA website.

However, the latest reports is that Naidu has dumped the tower design altogether and asked the London architects to come out with yet another design.

Apparently, he was depressed with the comments doing rounds in the social media criticising about the tower design, which resembles an “idli maker.”

A story was doing rounds in the media circles about the tower design of the assembly building.

According to this story, Norman Foster was very much frustrated with Naidu for rejecting whatever designs he was suggesting. So, when he came to Vijayawada a couple of months ago, he had a discussion with Rajamouli.

“One fine morning, the Baahubali director took Foster to Babai Hotel in Vijayawada for morning breakfast. The London architect liked the taste of Idli very much and asked Rajamouli how it is made. The latter took him into kitchen to show how the Idlis are prepared.

On seeing the Idli maker, the London architect was very much impressed with its design. When he went back to his hotel room, he quickly made changes in the assembly building design on the lines of Idli maker and Naidu instantly liked it!” the story said.

May be, this story has come to the notice of Naidu and he realised that he was fooled by the architects. So, he dropped the design and wanted a fresh design to be made!
