It was virtually YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s day in the AP Assembly on Monday. He exposed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s hollowness in implanting the crop loan waiver scheme in letter and spirit.
In a hard-hitting speech, Jagan said the TDP and its chief Chandrababu Naidu had backtracked on the assurance of complete agricultural loan waiver given on the eve of Assembly elections.
He also alleged that Chandrababu had also promised DWCRA loan waiver, but had gone back on the assurance. He said the scheme was in sharp contrast to the promise made by Naidu in the TDP election manifesto.
“There are several instances of farmers being denied proper waiver. One farmer got a waiver of just Rs 15,” he recalled.
During the heated debate on crop loan waiver, Jagan presented several case studies where the farmers were duped in the name of crop loan waiver.
He said these farmers were paid pittances in the name of crop loan waiver. He said the farmers were in dire straits and were committing suicide due to mouting debt burden.
Stating that he had never seen a bigger liar than Naidu, Jagan wondered whether the Chief Minister had a curse from a saint that the Chief Minister should not tell facts, lest his head would be ‘wrecked’ into thousand pieces.
