Firebrand BJP MLA Raja Singh on way out?

Firebrand BJP MLA Raja Singh on way out?

It appears stage is set for the suspension or even expulsion of firebrand MLA from Goshamahal constituency T Raja Singh from the Bharatiya Janata Party, for his alleged controversial remarks in the recent past about some BJP leaders being sold out to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

On Monday, there were reports that the BJP national leadership issued direction to the Telangana state party unit to issue a show-cause notice to Raja Singh for his alleged anti-party activities and controversial comments.

Reacting to these reports, Raja Singh has issued a stern warning in response to rumours that the party might issue him a show-cause notice or even suspend him.

He dismissed the idea of receiving a notice, daring the party instead to suspend him outright.

He warned that if such a suspension occurs, he would publicly expose the personal and political backgrounds of all those involved in the state BJP.

He vowed to reveal who truly caused damage to the party and would not hesitate to bring the truth before the public.

Singh’s statement has stirred controversy within political circles and indicates an intensifying internal conflict within the BJP.

The BJP high command has been angry with Raja Singh for the last three years, after he rubbed the top leaders on wrong shoulder.

In August 2022, he was suspended from the party for several months for his unsavoury remarks about Islam.

Finally, in August 2023, the BJP lifted his year-old suspension and put his name on the party's first list of candidates for the November 30 assembly elections in the state.

Singh is considered a Hindutva icon in Telangana.
