There used to be a lot of publicity around Amaravati until a few weeks ago in the Andhra Pradesh media, but suddenly, everything has come to a standstill with no more overhyped coverage.
Upon inquiry, it is understood that a negative wave against the government is prevalent in Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions.
The excessive hype around Amaravati’s development, coupled with minimal focus on these other regions, has hurt the sentiments of the people there.
Moreover, the poor are increasingly upset as welfare schemes have not yet been delivered, and the promises made in the election manifesto seem to have been completely ignored.
As a result, showcasing Amaravati's development is backfiring and contributing to early signs of anti-incumbency.
Additionally, widespread monsoon rains have halted most construction activities across the state, naturally bringing the works to a pause.
Given these circumstances, the government appears to have deliberately toned down the focus on Amaravati to avoid damaging its image further. For the time being, the topic has been kept under wraps.
