Jagan has done injustice to Sharmila, says Vijayamma

Y S Vijayalakshmi, wife of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, on Friday issued a detailed clarification regarding the ongoing dispute over family assets, asserting that no formal division of properties took place until his death in 2009.

In a statement released to the media through his lawyer, Vijayalakshmi reiterated that all assets accumulated until YSR’s demise were collectively owned by the family.

“There was never any division of assets. It was YSR’s clear intention that all properties be distributed equally among his four grandchildren,” she stated, adding that this understanding was well known within the family.

Referring to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) written by her son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vijayamma said the properties allocated to Y S Sharmila rightfully belonged to her.

“That is why Jagan had executed the MoU. In fact, he gave lesser than what is rightfully due for Sharmila. Even assets not mentioned in the MoU, including land in Yelahanka and holdings in Saraswati Cement, belong to Sharmila,” she clarified.

She further stated that the money reportedly given to Sharmila was merely dividend income from her rightful share and not an additional allocation.

Expressing concern, Vijayalakshmi alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy had been unfair to his niece and nephew in matters of inheritance.

“As a mother, I hope he will eventually do justice,” she said.

Rejecting claims of any prior asset division, she emphasized that properties currently being discussed were given by YSR to both Jagan and Sharmila during his lifetime, and should not be misconstrued as a formal partition.

Condemning what she termed as “false propaganda,” Vijayalakshmi appealed to the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation.

“I humbly request, as YSR’s wife, that untruths be stopped and this issue not be repeatedly highlighted in the media,” she said, asserting that her statement was truthful and made “in the name of God.”
