TTD's website clean and did not carry Christ's name

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy warned the TDP to refrain from resorting to malicious campaign against the TTD as well as the state government on religious lines which is tantamount to disturbing the communal harmony in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters at Sri Padmavathi guest house in Tirupati on Sunday, TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy said it was unfortunate that certain mischievous elements carried out a smear campaign against the TTD at the behest of the TDP and unfortunately some section of media danced to the tunes of the main opposition party and projected TTD in a wrong light over the name of Jesus Christ popping up on a search link on Google to its official website ''www.tirumala.org''.

"Immediately after the incident came to our notice, we launched an enquiry into the incident. During the course of the enquiry by the TTD's IT and the Vigilance and security wings, it emerged that because of the cached data on Google, the search link to the TTD website showed the name but the TTD website was clean and there was no mention of Jesus Christ's name in official website link to its Panchangam page, which has been wrongly circulated in the social media besides being reported in some prominent newspapers and television news channels close to the TDP," alleged YV Subba Reddy.

Adding further, YV Subba Reddy clarified that immediately, we downed the search link to our website and have sought an explanation from Google as well to probe deeper into the conspiracy, which we believe is a handiwork of the Telugu Desam Party which is desperately trying to target the TTD and the chief minister on the religious lines.

"We appeal to the people of the state and the devotees of Lord Venkateswara with folded hands not to fall prey to such malicious campaign. None of this is true. Even the incidents in the past when state-sponsored information related to Jerusalem pilgrimage were found printed on RTC bus tickets at Tirumala, the opposition parties tried to target the present government while the mistake was done during the earlier TDP regime. All this clearly establishes the fact that this is the handiwork of the TDP to damage the image of the state government and the chief minister on the religious lines," Subba Reddy alleged.

"This particular incident has hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees of Lord Venkateswara across the globe and we will not take it lightly. We will initiate criminal proceedings against all those behind the conspiracy against the TTD. We are also requesting the state government to allow TTD to float a cybercrime wing to effectively tackle such issues with more efficacy in the future," added the TTD chairman.
