Rift with Anil: Smoke without fire, says Kakani

The rift between former Andhra Pradesh irrigation minister P Anil Kumar Yadav and newly-appointed agriculture minister Kakani Goverdhan Reddy in Nellore district has subsided, at least for now, thanks to the intervention of YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Jagan called both the leaders to the camp office and took them to task for making their differences public by holding separate public meetings.

He reportedly warned them against indulging in fighting and asked them to work together as they had done in the past.

Interestingly, Kakani and Anil spoke in different tones while interacting with the media later. While Anil said there were indeed differences within the party in Nellore, which were quite common in any other party.

“In a big organization like us, such small differences are bound to be there,” he said.

On the other hand, Kakani said there were absolutely no differences between him and Anil Kumar.

“I am a minister and he is a former minister. That’s all. As a local MLA, he can hold his own meeting; and I don’t think there is any competition between the two,” he said.

Describing the so-called differences between him and Anil as “smoke without fire,” the minister said some vested interests were trying to create troubles between the two.

“We both have a common goal, of bringing YSR Congress party back to power in the state,” he said.
