In an unexpected turn, Indian badminton stars Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap have decided to give their marriage a second chance, just weeks after publicly announcing their separation.
On July 13, Saina took to Instagram Stories to share the news of their decision to part ways after years together.
In her statement, she wrote, "Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We're choosing peace, growth, and healing for ourselves and each other. I'm grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time."
However, the couple has now surprised fans by sharing a heartfelt photo on social media, hinting at a reconciliation.
“Sometimes distance teaches you the value of presence. Here we are—trying again,” Nehwal captioned the image, indicating that time apart has made them reconsider their relationship and sparked efforts to work things out.
Saina and Kashyap tied the knot in 2018 after more than a decade of companionship, both on and off the court.
The duo met and trained at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and rose through the ranks of Indian badminton together.
Saina Nehwal emerged as one of India’s most iconic sportswomen, winning an Olympic bronze medal and becoming the first Indian woman to achieve the World No. 1 ranking in badminton.
Kashyap, too, has had a stellar career—winning gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and becoming the first Indian male shuttler to reach the Olympic quarterfinals in 2012.
He also won a bronze at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and was honored with the Arjuna Award in 2012.
Their decision to reunite has been warmly welcomed by fans, who see it as a reminder of resilience, both on and off the court.
