Petrol Bomb Attack, Bail in Hours

Petrol Bomb Attack, Bail in Hours

A petrol bomb attack on the house of former minister Jogi Ramesh in Ibrahimpatnam has triggered sharp criticism over the police response.

On Sunday, hundreds of alleged TDP supporters went on a rampage at Jogi Ramesh’s residence. They reportedly hurled petrol bombs, pelted stones, and attacked the house with rods, sticks and deadly weapons. Parts of the house were also set on fire, creating panic in the area.

Police later arrested 11 TDP leaders and workers in connection with the attack. However, controversy erupted after the accused were reportedly booked under minor sections and granted station bail immediately, leading to their quick release.

The move has drawn strong criticism, with many questioning how those involved in arson, petrol bomb attacks and violent assaults were let off so easily. Locals alleged that despite the seriousness of the attack, the police treated it lightly, calling it “high drama” rather than strict law enforcement.

It was also alleged that the attackers had come from Vijayawada to carry out the assault, but even this did not lead to tougher action. The police decision to arrest and release the accused within hours has sparked anger and ridicule among the public.

The incident has once again raised questions about law and order and the impartiality of the police in handling politically sensitive cases.
