Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 has created a strong impact at the box office, even surpassing Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 to become the biggest Hindi opener ever.
However, despite its impressive run, the Aditya Dhar directorial has fallen short of breaking three major records still held by Pushpa 2.
The current box office scenario resembles a clash of giants. While Dhurandhar 2 is on a record-breaking spree, it has not fully matched the scale set by Allu Arjun’s blockbuster.
Global Opening Still Behind
Though Dhurandhar 2 performed exceptionally well in India, its worldwide opening could not match Pushpa 2. The latter recorded a massive global opening of over ₹275 crore, whereas Dhurandhar 2 stands at around ₹222.5 crore.
BookMyShow Ticket Sales Gap
The craze for Pushpa 2 on BookMyShow remains unmatched. Dhurandhar 2 sold around 4.05 million tickets on Day 1 (including pre-sales), while Pushpa 2 registered a higher figure of 4.76 million tickets.
Misses Top 5 in North America
One of the biggest setbacks for Dhurandhar 2 is missing a spot in the Top 5 Indian openers in North America. Despite a wide release, the film collected around $3.95 million (including premieres), narrowly missing the fifth position.
The current Top 5 Indian openers in North America are: Kalki 2898 AD – $5.56 million, RRR – $5.5 million, Baahubali 2 – $4.6 million, Pushpa 2 – $4.47 million, and Coolie – $3.97 million.
Overall, while Dhurandhar 2 has achieved several milestones and dominated in many areas, Pushpa 2 continues to hold its ground with some key records still intact.
