Trade Talk: Pawan's Ustaad Crashes 80% on Day 2!

Trade Talk: Pawan's Ustaad Crashes 80% on Day 2!

Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh opened with strong expectations.

After the record-breaking success of They Call Him OG, similar hopes were pinned on this film. However, mixed reviews and strong competition from Dhurandhar: The Revenge in the Telugu states have impacted its box office performance, especially on Day 2.

The film did not have preview shows but benefited from special ticket pricing. On Day 1, it collected around ₹34.75 crore net from 4,607 shows across India.

On Day 2, the collections saw a steep fall, dropping to ₹7.17 crore net, taking the two-day total to ₹41.92 crore net in India. This sharp decline of nearly 80% indicates that the film is losing momentum early in its run.

The strong response to Dhurandhar 2 in the Telugu market, even without a full-fledged dubbed release in some regions, has added pressure on Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The coming weekdays will be crucial in determining the film’s box office trend.

The upcoming Eid holiday may provide some boost to collections, but it remains to be seen whether the film can recover from this early dip.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh features Sreeleela, Raashii Khanna, KS Ravikumar, Parthiban, Gautami, Rao Ramesh, and Satyam Rajesh in key roles.

The film’s digital rights have been acquired by Netflix, and it is expected to premiere on the platform around April 24 in multiple languages.
