Pawan to lobby for TDP to join NDA?

Pawan to lobby for TDP to join NDA?

Now that it has been confirmed that Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan is going to New Delhi to attend the meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting, which scheduled to be held on July 18, suspense prevails over the fate of the Telugu Desam Party.

The Jana Sena Party has declared that Pawan Kalyan received an invitation from the BJP to attend the July 18 meeting and he had given his consent.

He, along with his party’s political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar, will be leaving for the national capital on Monday.

The meeting of the NDA partners is seen as an attempt by the BJP to display its strength, with an eye on the next general elections.

However, the TDP, which has been lobbying behind the screen to get back into the NDA fold, has not got any such invitation so far.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, who was hoping for securing the BJP support for the next assembly elections in Andhra, is keeping his fingers crossed.

Sources said Naidu is learnt to have asked Pawan to find out what exactly is there in the minds of the BJP national leadership with regard to the TDP being  part of the Jana Sena-BJP alliance, so that he would get some clarity as to how to go about in the coming elections.

“As he said earlier, Pawan has three options: to continue the alliance with the BJP, or break-up the alliance with the BJP and join hands with the TDP in the event of the BJP not interested in restoring ties with the TDP; or convince the BJP to be part of the TDP-Jana Sena Party alliance,” sources said.

So, the Jana Sena Party chief has to present his blueprint before the BJP national leadership during the Tuesday’s NDA meeting.

“If he is interested in joining hands with the TDP, he may quietly walk out of the NDA meeting. But the fact that he is attending the meeting itself shows, he is keen on continuing the ties with the BJP,” sources said.

There will be clarity on how the political equations turn out in Andhra Pradesh after the NDA meeting, sources added.
