YSRCP dharna at Mulapeta a big drama: Duvvada

YSRCP dharna at Mulapeta a big drama: Duvvada

Suspended YSR Congress Party leader and MLC Duvvada Srinivas on Tuesday came down heavily on the YSR Congress party leaders for staging a dharna in Srikakulam demanding completion of Mulapeta port and called it a “big drama” designed to mislead the public.

Duvvada, who has been in rivalry with senior YSRCP leaders in Srikakulam, particularly former ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao and his brother Dharmana Krishna Dasu, alleged that they had enacted a big drama in the name of dharna for Mulapeta port.

In a video posted on social media, Duvvada questioned the credibility of the protest programme, alleging that despite the call to “go to the port,” the organisers stopped nearly 10 kilometres away and held a meeting under a tent instead of actually entering the port premises.

He claimed that permission had been given for around 40 people to enter and inspect the port area, but the organisers failed to make use of that opportunity.

Instead, the programme was reduced to a politically motivated exercise aimed at creating a false narrative rather than addressing genuine public concerns, he alleged.

Duvvada further accused the organisers of ignoring the real issues faced by displaced families and local residents who had made sacrifices for the port project, including those who had given land for a 100-metre access road.

He said these concerns were not meaningfully raised during the meeting. He also remarked that many of those who attended the programme with expectations were left disappointed.

Duvvada’s remarks assume significance as they come at a time when he remains politically isolated within the YSRCP after his suspension from the party. But his attack on the YSRCP would only help the TDP to garner the mileage.
