Pawan Kalyan Demands, Raju Ridicules

Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, who had never bothered about the agitating farmers of Amaravati for several months, has suddenly came up with the demand for resignation of the MLAs belonging to YSRCP and the TDP belonging to Krishna and Guntur districts.

“If they have any concern for the farmers of Amaravati who had given thousands of acres of land to the government for the capital city, the MLAs of the TDP and the YSRC in these two districts should resign immediately,” Pawan said, in a video conference with the party leaders on Monday.

He demanded that both the ruling and the main opposition parties should get into direct action if they had any sincerity in resolving the issues of the Amaravati farmers.

What is more, he claimed that only Jana Sena had been standing by the farmers right from the day of land pooling to the protection of the capital city.

“The ruling party is dividing the state on regional lines in the name of three capitals,” he said.

Strongly rejecting Pawan Kalyan’s demand, rebel YSRC MP from Narasapuram parliamentary constituency K Raghurama Krishnam Raju said there was no need for any MLA of any party to resign in support of Amaravati capital.

“Resigning from the MLA posts is a meaningless move. Nobody should do it in a hasty manner. What we need now is not resignations, but a prolonged and uncompromising fight for the capital at Amaravati,” he said.

Advising TDP legislative council member B Tech Ravi to withdraw his resignation, Raju said if the lawmakers quit their posts, they would lose the security cover and nobody would care for them.

“For me, the centre is likely to provide protection. But if the MLAs resign, they would not get any security,” he said.

He suggested that the people’s representatives should conduct a referendum in their respective areas to know the opinions of the people on the capital issue.

“Can the government say that the people are happy with its decision on the three capitals?” the YSRC MP asked.
