Jagan takes one more step towards 3 capitals

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken one more step towards achieving his goal of creating three capitals for the state

On Saturday, the Jagan government started one more judicial office at Kurnool, which has been designated as the judicial capital of the state, even as arrangements are being made to shift the administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam by Dasara festival.

State high court judge Justice B Krishna Mohan, who is also administrative judge for Kurnool, inaugurated Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board Tribunal.

Several judges, besides state wakf board tribunal chairman G Bhupal Reddy, principal secretary (minority welfare) Md Imtiyaz and district collector Dr G Srujana attended the event.

Justice Krishna Mohan said Kurnool had a historical significance in the state and it already housed several judicial offices like Lok Ayukta, Human Rights Commission and Electricity Regulatory Commission. Now, the State Wakf Board Tribunal had come up to extend legal services to the people.

Interestingly, the previous Telugu Desam Party government proposed to establish State Wakf Board tribunal at Vijayawada, in tune with its policy of developing Amaravati as the state capital.

But now with Jagan deciding to form three capitals with Kurnool as the judicial capital, the tribunal was also shifted to Kurnool, thereby reiterating his commitment to the decentralisation of administration.
