Jagan government surviving on central funds: GVL

Jagan government surviving on central funds: GVL

Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh, which has been desperate to prove its existence in the state, has stepped up attack on the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government of late.

On Tuesday, BJP Rajya Sabha member and former official spokesman G V L Narasimha Rao launched a tirade against the Jagan government for completely neglecting the development of the north-coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that the Jagan government was surviving completely on the funds released by the BJP government at the Centre, GVL said the state government had failed to spend any funds on the development of north coastal Andhra, particularly Vizianagaram district.

“The Jagan government has completely neglected Vizianagaram district, which was identified as the most backward district, apart from other areas of north Andhra. It should come out with a white paper on the funds spent on this region,” he demanded, during his visit to Vizianagaram on Tuesday.

He called upon the writers, activists and people of north coastal Andhra to pull up the government for neglecting the region.

“The central government has been releasing funds for the development of backward regions in the state,” he said.

GVL went on to allege that though the region remained backward during the YSRC government, the YSRC leaders were far ahead in looting the resources, besides indulging in land grabbing.

He, however, defended the Centre’s decision to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

Stating that it is a policy decision of the government, he said the decision would result in improvement of the steel plant and increase in the employment opportunities.
