HC Shock To Atchen, Bail Denied

HC Shock To Atchen, Bail Denied

Contrary to the criticism that the Andhra Pradesh high court has been giving judgements only against the YSRCP government in the state, there was a judgement in favour of the government on Wednesday.

The high court struck down the petition of former minister and senior Telugu Desam Party legislator Kinjarapu Atchen Naidu seeking bail in connection with the multi-crore Employees State Insurance (ESI) scam in which he was arrested.

The high court also dismissed similar petitions of former director of Indian Medical Services C K Ramesh Kumar, who is accused No. 1 in the case, besides that of former minister Pitani Satyanarayana’s personal assistant Murali and another accused Subba Rao.

Atchen Naidu, who was arrested in the case on June 12, has been undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

The state high court, which had shown a lot of sympathy towards Atchen and pulled up the police officials for forcibly sending him to jail despite his physical condition, was expected to give a positive judgement on his bail petition. However, the court gave a shocking judgement against the TDP leader.

Apparently, the high court felt that there is a prima facie evidence to prove that the former minister was behind the signing of contract on September 2016, directing the authorities to enter into an agreement with Tele health services that provides services like toll free services and settlement of medical bills.
