Gannavaram Row: Infighting Reaches Jagan Court

The internecine battle in YSRC party in Gannavaram assembly constituency has reached its peak with the rival groups deciding to take the issue to the court of party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sitting Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who shifted his loyalties from Telugu Desam Party to YSR Congress last year, has facing a bitter battle from senior party leaders Dutta Ramachandra Rao and Yarlagadda Venkat Rao, who are not tolerating Vamsi’s hegemony in the party.

Both the leaders have brought to the notice of the high command that Vamsi, who had troubled them during the TDP regime, was still trying to suppress them by gaining control over the party.

While Yarlagadda lost the elections to Vamsi in 2019, Dutta has been the party in-charge in Gannavaram.

The war between Vamsi and his rivals reached a climax recently when the followers of the MLA stalled the attempts of Yarlagadda to put up posters and cut-outs in Gannavaram on the occasion of latter’s birthday. Workers of both the sides indulged in physical attacks on each other.

Apparently hurt by the attempts of his rivals to oppose his leadership, Vamsi is learnt to have decided to meet Jagan and explain his version in a couple of days.

“If there is no proper response from the chief minister, Vamsi has decided to keep himself away from party politics,” his close aides said.
