Changing Dynamics: MLAs Avoid CM in Alliance Era

There was a huge uproar during the YSRCP regime in Andhra Pradesh that whenever MLAs or MPs wanted to meet Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, his close coterie would often restrict them from getting access to him.

But now, under the alliance government, the situation has reversed.

Most MLAs and MPs are reportedly not interested in meeting Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu — and some are even hoping not to receive a call from him.

The reason? They are doing well in their own ways, and a call from Chandrababu usually means a long lecture on administrative matters, probing questions about their performance or earnings, and directives on various tasks — followed by requests for reports and updates.

According to insiders, many legislators are now quietly wishing not to hear from the CM for the next four years. That’s the shift in the political scene.

This shift speaks about a stark contrast in leadership styles. While Jagan's perceived inaccessibility drew criticism, Chandrababu’s approach is turning off MLAs.

Instead of seeking proximity to power, MLAs and MPs are avoiding it — fearing accountability, scrutiny, and the burden of expectations that come with his direct involvement.
