Following the directions of the high court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took up the investigation against them for contempt of court; arrested a few of them and prosecuted them. They were, however, released on bail after a long time.

Now, it is the turn of the Telugu Desam Party leaders and their party social media activists and followers, who are facing the music for allegedly making nasty comments against a couple of judges who have not given judgements in favour of their boss and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh Subrahmanyam Sriram filed a criminal contempt petition in the high court, stating that some TDP leaders and their associates had trolled two judges, for their judgements related to certain criminal cases pending in the courts.

The high court bench, which admitted the petition, observed that such comments on social media and trolling against the judges were highly objectionable.

The court directed that appropriate action be taken against the accused by going through the identity of such trollers and their social media handles.

The advocate general named, in all, 26 persons who had trolled the judges, in his contempt petition. They include senior TDP legislator Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, former MLA Buddha Venkanna and former judge Ramakrishna.

The advocate general mentioned the comments made in their social media accounts on Google, Twitter and Facebook, saying such comments amounted to the contempt of court.
