If the speculations doing rounds in the social media are to be believed, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to field former MP Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi as the party candidate from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency.
According to these reports, the YSRCP chief minister, who is finding it difficult to select a suitable candidate for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat, has zeroed in on Botsa Jhansi, wife of senior minister Botsa Satyanarayana. She had earlier represented Vizianagaram Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Visakhapantam parliamentary constituency is being represented by M V V Satyanarayana, but there have been reports from the party intelligence and the I-PAC team that he might lose this time.
So, Satyanarayana is being moved to Visakhapatnam (East) assembly constituency, as per his request and he has been given the responsibility of party coordinator from this constituency.
Botsa has reportedly conveyed to Jagan that if his wife is given the party ticket from Vizag LS seat, he would ensure her victory at any cost.
“The final decision is yet to be taken. If Jagan finds a more suitable candidate, he might not prefer Jhansi, but if he has no other alternative, he might agree for her candidature,” sources said.
Botsa refused to comment on the speculations in the media about his wife’s candidature for Visakhapatnam LS seat. “I don’t have any information about this. So, I cannot comment,” he said.
