Andhra scribes fume at Murthy's appointment!

The appointment of veteran journalist and former editorial director of Sakshi media group Kondubhatla Ramachandra Murthy as an advisor to Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Public Policy has triggered yet another uproar in the Andhra media.

Already, the scribes in Andhra Pradesh are agitated over the appointment of Telangana journalists like GVD Krishna Mohan and Devulapalli Amar in key positions like communications advisor and national media advisors to the chief minister in the Andhra Pradesh government.

Now, Murthy’s appointment was like adding fuel to the fire, as he hails from Khammam district and was an out-and-out supporter of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, which Jagan had strongly opposed in the past.

Ever since the GO came out on Friday, these scribes have been giving vent to their anger in the social media.

They pointed out that Murthy, who founded HMTV television news channel, conducted a series of debates on the Telangana movement and campaigned for separate Telangana state.

“When he was in Andhra Jyothy and HMTV in the past, he used to denigrate Andhra during the debates and also in his writings. Is it not shameful on his part to accept the post of Advisor (Public Policy) and take lakhs of rupees as salary from Andhra coffers?” a social media post pointed out.

The scribes accused Murthy of pampering Jagan with his writings in Sakshi and begging him for a post in the Andhra government.

“Who are you to give advices to Jagan on public policies with the same tongue which had abused Andhra in the past? Do you think the people will forgive you and forget your diabolic nature? With what face are you joining the Andhra government, which you had abused till recently?” they asked.
