Andhra elections in April first week?

The elections to the Andhra Pradesh state assembly and Lok Sabha are likely to be held in the first week of April and the schedule is expected to be announced in the second or third week of February.

According to reports from New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh along with Telangana will go to polls in the first phase of the elections.

The Lok Sabha polls will be held in five or six phases, which will begin in the first week of April to the first week of May.

The Election Commission of India on Monday released the final list of voters who can exercise their franchise in the coming elections in Andhra Pradesh. With this, the EC has completed all the arrangements.

Meanwhile, the state government, too, is gearing up to make the arrangements for the polls. On Monday, chief secretary K S Jawahar Reddy held a meeting with chief electoral officer Mukesh Kumar Meena and other officials to discuss the arrangments.

The chief secretary directed the authorities of various departments to transfer all the officials and employees who have been working at a single place for more than three years, if they have connection with the electoral process. The transfers will be completed in the next three days.

He also reviewed the arrangements to be provided at the polling stations, besides shifting of employees and filling up of vacancies at the district level.

The chief secretary also discussed with the police officials on the need to curb flow of money in the districts to woo voters.

Apparently realizing that he is running short of time, Jagan, too, has decided to launch his election campaign from January 27, starting with party workers’ meeting at Bheemili in Visakhapatnam.

He will complete one round of electioneering by February second week, when the schedule is likely to be announced.
