Today saw the release of two much-anticipated sequels 'Son of Sardaar 2' and 'Dhadak 2'. However, both films failed to impress audiences and critics alike.
The opening collections were poor, and early reviews suggest that neither film has struck the right chord.
Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, was directed by Vijay Araora. It tried to bring back the comedy and action mix of the first film, but the stale storyline and weak humor didn’t connect with viewers.
On the other hand, Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, was directed by Shazia Iqbal. Unlike the original that launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter with emotional depth and strong performances, the sequel lacked soul and failed to recreate the magic.
These back-to-back failures prove that just because a film is part of a successful franchise doesn’t mean its sequel will automatically work.
Audiences today look for freshness, strong storytelling, and emotional connection — not just brand names.
The flop status of both films is a reminder that content remains king, no matter how big the franchise.
