The Kannada film “Kantara” became a new box office phenomenon. The film not only became a huge blockbuster on domestic markets but also became a sensation in the USA.
The biggest surprise is that the film’s Telugu version grossed half a million dollars.
The Kannada version of “Kantara” premiered last month. The film (Kannada version) now crossed the milestone of $1 million.
On the other hand, the Telugu version was released in the USA theaters two weeks after the Kannada version.
Still, the Telugu version could pull off such magic. The strong word-of-mouth and the positive reviews for the Telugu version helped.
The film grossed $67,673 from 143 locations on Friday and its cumulative gross now stands at $519,559.
Directed by Rishab Shetty, “Kantara” is a folklore story with mythological elements. The film won high praise from all quarters.
