BJP, not TRS, eyeing on 15 MP seats

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao might be going all out to bag not less than 15 MP seats from Telangana region to play a key role at the Centre after 2014 elections, but he is facing a potential threat from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

A recent survey has indicated that the BJP would win three to four Lok Sabha seats from Telangana region in the state in the next general elections. However, the party is eyeing on not just three or four MP seats but as many as 15 seats.

“The BJP which is the only party, apart from the TRS, with a complete clarity on the Telangana issue will try to win the maximum number of MP seats from Telangana. It is not an impossible task once the party declares Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate,” a BJP leader said.

According to him, there is every possibility of an overwhelming support for the BJP in the Telangana region once Narendra Modi is declared as PM candidate. Since the credibility of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has been going down considerably, it would benefit the BJP indirectly. Moreover, with the MIM forging an alliance with the YSR Congress party, there will be polarisation of Hindu votes which would benefit the BJP rather than the TRS. “Even if the BJP wins 10 MP seats, it will be a big achievement,” the BJP leader said.
