Forget T-issue, Azad Tells Seemandhra Leaders

Congress leaders from Seemandhra region, who met AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad in New Delhi on Tuesday, got a dressing down for ignoring their constituencies and bringing pressure on the high command on Telangana issue.

“Forget about the Telangana issue. Leave it to the high command which will resolve it in an appropriate manner. Instead, focus on your respective constituencies and see that the party will win those seats,” Azad told them.

The Seemandhra leaders were taken aback when Azad sought to know how many of them would be able to win their respective seats in the 2014 elections.

“Instead of running around the leaders in Delhi, go back to your constituencies and focus on regaining the confidence of voters. We are going to give you a schedule of mass contact programme. Go and participate in the programme and see that the party will good number of seats. We know how  to resolve the Telangana issue,” Azad said.

The Seemandhra leaders tried to convince Azad that the Congress party had never promised Telangana state in its manifesto, the AICC leader said he was aware of the promises made in the manifestos and the party would have to fulfil them.
